The fall is a great time to move! Moving in September is a perfect time to move. It’s not as hot and humid any more. Kids are back at school, people are back from vacations and the rates are lower. The busiest season to move is May through end of August. As with most things in life, the higher the demand for a service, the higher the price. Simple supply and demand! A lot of people need to move during this season as it’s the best time to relocate with the kids out of school and vacation time available. However, if you are just moving locally the school thing is a great reason to move in the fall. Most of the moving can be done while the kids are at school and if it’s the same neighbourhood, they simply go home to the new house. If It’s a long distance move, most parents will want to have the kids ready for the first day of the new school year. This is standard practice. However in todays fixed curriculum, most of the school work is similar. Therefore moving within the first few weeks of school is really not that big a deal. We’ve all been to schools where a new kid comes in weeks later or even half way through school year…no big deal and it happens all the time.
Some of the advantages of moving in the fall are the weather. It’s not hot and humid and you have more energy to move. Your movers will probably feel more comfortable too. Often September can be one of the best weather months across Canada.
The price! Moving in off peak times can literally save you half the price of moving during peak times when demand is high and availability is low. The moving business slows way down in the fall. Consider taking advantage of this by moving in September, October or even November. There will be a lot of companies striving very hard for your business.
If you don’t have to move in the spring or summer…don’t! Moving in the fall is a much better time to move and most people don’t take advantage of the benefits and savings.
